Teddy gets all the treats.

On a more serious note. What the fuck are the republicans hoping for? If we were a month away from the election, I could see letting what happens happen. A few more deaths and we all vote, but since we have five full months tens of thousands more might die. Unless they are extremely lucky and everything we understand about the virus is wrong they are on record as saying “bring on the death.” Not a coherent campaign strategy. Or maybe, in addition to being complete assholes, they are fucking morons. That’s it. back to Teddy and more treats.

It almost seems novel to remember that Anti-Vax woo used to be one of the few legitimately bipartisan pieces of dipshittery out there. Now it seems it’s been properly co-opted by the right, just by sheer volume of it. No doubt it still exists in pockets on the left, but it’s aggressively promoted by the ‘Deep State’ right in ways the woo on the left could only dream of.

Their entire reason for being is “owning the libs.” Everything they say and do is in service to being contrarian to what they think “the libs” want. Even if it contradicts everything they’ve said, done, and known beforehand.

They are immune to cognitive dissonance.

Isn’t that what ‘Believe Women’ was always actually about? Not ‘believe accusations regardless of veracity’, but ‘believe accusations enough to actually investigate on their merits’?

This seems to have gotten an accounting that many other accusations of sexual assault never receive because they were dismissed out of hand before anyone ever dug into the proof for or against.

Unfortunately, in today’s socio-political instant-communication media (and society in general), the principle seems to have become “believe accusations regardless of veracity if the target is someone I don’t like (especially if a political “ enemy”).

Well, I got tired of my bangs getting in my face today, so I whacked them to where they’re not quite a problem.

I did it the way the hair stylists said to do it, by picking up the hair in my left hand and holding it vertical, then snipping with my right hand. (As opposed to how my mom cut my bangs when I was a kid, which was to lay a piece of Scotch tape across them and then snip, snip, snip.) What I learned:

1) Yes, this works.
2) Except if you’ve got frozen shoulder in one shoulder and can barely get your hand above your head so you can do the snipping, it is going to hurt like hell. I did get my hand above my head but my shoulder HURTS even hours later.
3) OMG even though I took off only a little bit, there was SO MUCH HAIR on me, on my clothes, in my sink, etc.

But the forest is thinned slightly and it doesn’t look too disastrous. However, because of the aforementioned frozen shoulder, I’m only going to do this when I have to.

Picture behind the button.

hi.

Those two doctors from Kern County, Calif. which released the doctored statistics video to claim the coronavirus outbreak is not severe and businesses need to reopen (including theirs)?

About that, they’re getting called out by name:

ACEP-AAEM Joint Statement on Physician Misinformation (Goes to the Website of the American College of Emergency Physicians):

The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) jointly and emphatically condemn the recent opinions released by Dr. Daniel Erickson and Dr. Artin Messihi. These reckless and untested musings do not speak for medical societies and are inconsistent with current science and epidemiology regarding COVID-19. As owners of local urgent care clinics, it appears these two individuals are releasing biased, non-peer reviewed data to advance their personal financial interests without regard for the public’s health.

COVID-19 misinformation is widespread and dangerous. Members of ACEP and AAEM are first-hand witnesses to the human toll that COVID-19 is taking on our communities. ACEP and AAEM strongly advise against using any statements of Drs. Erickson and Messihi as a basis for policy and decision making.

The article says the party has put out a memo telling people to focus on attacking China rather than defending Trump.

It’s not a win of any kind.

It’s literally the opposite: it’s a group of people strategizing to find a better tactic to enable a empathyless narcissist’s election prospects because they have unconscionable things they want to legislate.

And, frankly, this is why I’m not particularly warm towards commentary media, even the ones with a real talent for words. If you’re the Washington DC equivalent of a Youtube Drama channel, then this is tea spilling and blood in the water because the hot new political couple is maybe fighting and *sploosh* might have a messy breakup. But if you’re step back from the framing, it’s the exact opposite: it’s gross individuals and institutions that have done the same kinds of shitty things over and over yet remain a unified bloc because they have shared lack of values.

Donald Trump is not the evil stepmother forcing Republican Daddy to forget birthdays and spend the college fund on a Camaro. These are people who will hate and use one another, feel no authentic alliance, but the rest of us will still be worse off because we’re on the outside of the folie.

Meow.

Latency is going to bedevil that problem forever. The best solution I can think of would rely on a very stable latency and musicians ordered in layers so the second artist listens to the first, then adds their input to the stream and so on iteratively.

If you wet your bangs down first and comb them straight, you can do it one-handed. Also, the hair will fall into the sink in clumps instead of getting all over everywhere.

I’d love to think this will be over soon enough that you won’t have to do it again, but probably you will. It gets easier.

The issue is the same as with other conservative channels: When a video gets pulled, it is mirrored across YouTube by other conservatives. The same goes with Alex Jones’s videos: He was banned, but InfoWars and Prison Planet videos are all over the platform.

The argument of “Well Facebook or YouTube or Twitter can’t monitor everything on their platforms” is a dodge. If the companies are incapable of managing their own companies, they need to be regulated or broken up.

They in fact can regulate their platforms; they choose not to. Computer algorithms don’t have to be paid. The libertarians who run those platforms or own their stock (like Thiel in Facebook) don’t want worker pay to cut into profits.

Jon Batiste was just talking about exactly this on tonight’s Colbert.

Click tracks. Everybody has the same click track to play along with (separately); and sends it to some engineer at wherever the click track is from syncs them all to send out live-ish with only a few seconds delay.
